At the end of the Qing Dynasty, Queen Cixi (acted by Siqingaowa), the real ruler of the country, is not satisfied with her office gown she wears on the court and so she orders to select the best tailor to design a new one for her, causing a series of love and hatred in the Xu's family.
Xu Wenxiu (acted by Qiu xinzhi) is the junior host of the largest silk store at Hangzhou, who is romantic by nature and is nicknamed as Silk Zhuangyuan.
