At a posh society event, waitress Sandra Ng watches transfixed as a glamorous couple glide across the dance floor. She instantly develops a crush on the male half of the couple and determines to enroll in his dance class.
Andy Lau is the object of her attraction -- a popular dance instructor who dreams of owning a studio in a glamorous skyscraper and competing in the world championships in England. The opportunity to realize his dreams comes in the lovely form of Anita Mui, an unhappy businesswoman. Her younger brother (Edison Chen) pays Andy to give her lessons and ‘make her happy.' Andy is happy to accept, especially when he sees the amount of the pay-off.
While Andy romances Anita, Sandra harbors her crush on Andy and also develops a friendship with Anita. Will all three see their dreams come true?
The supporting cast is charming, and the dance scenes are perfectly enjoyable, if not dazzling. While it would have been more satisfying to see a bit more depth in the characters, director Andrew Lau (Young and Dangerous, The Storm Riders) has crafted an entertaining treat. |
